A quick 20-minute drive from umSisi House and you will arrive at the Numbi Gate entrance to the Kruger, South Africa’s most celebrated national park, and home to Africa’s famous Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino). With a private vehicle and expert guide, children of all ages are welcome on our private day safaris to the Kruger National Park, which means it is a day out for the whole family to enjoy South Africa’s natural beauty and those animals that call it home.
Experience amazing wildlife interactions at Chimp Eden and Elephant Whispers
As the only chimpanzee sanctuary in South Africa, Jane Goodall’s Chimp Eden is a rewarding place to visit with children. These chimps have been given a safe haven here after being misplaced from their natural habitats elsewhere in Africa. Although home to a slightly larger mammal species, Elephant Whispers is just as important and engaging for children as Chimp Eden, as it has a particular focus on education.
Immerse yourself in nature at Blyde River Canyon
You will feel on top of the world when you stand on the edge of the Blyde River Canyon and enjoy magical views from the many viewpoints along the route of the world’s third largest canyon. The Panorama Route offers amazing walks and hikes of differing intensity. On the 8km Belvedere Day Walk, you will enter a haven of thick riverine forest that is home to colourful feathered friends and is considered one of the most rewarding walks in the area. Or for one of the more actively intense family activities, do a multi-day, overnight hike where you can enjoy nocturnal nature.
